The eighth grade ambassadors have the opportunity to come to school earlier on Fridays, about 7:30-8 A.M., to stand outside the entrance to the Middle School and give incoming students high-fives. Mr. Michael Howton and Ms. Lee Gatens came up with this idea after seeing the ambassadors greet the visitors from McGraw Hill; they agreed the ambassadors showed positive attitudes and displayed great leadership. They felt as if students needed motivation when they came into school and they thought that this would be a perfect solution to that. Ambassadors were sent a Schoology message that asked if they would like to join this event.
One ambassador in particular decided to come. Zoe Zoller, eighth grader, made the decision to come to school on Friday’s earlier so she could help motivate and greet the students as they walk in the door. Zoller said, “It helps to create a great environment. Some of the students have a great attitude and return all of the high fives, others found the high fivers overwhelming. I joined because I am trying to use every opportunity that comes my way to participate in school activities. I think that high five Fridays are a great way to spread positivity on the greatest day of the week.” Hopefully the next time a student walks through the doors, they come in smiling.
