The middle school has begun the Thanksgiving can food drive. This is an event when the students at the middle school bring in canned food to donate to people in need of it in the area. Students can also bring in money as an alternative to cans. The top ten students in each grade that brought in the most cans with participate in the annual turkey. The top ten students in the whole school get to smash pies into Mr. Howton face! “I am really hoping to be one of the top ten students,” said Nina Orem, an eighth grader. Bring in 20 cans get a piece of candy, 30 cans to get a cookie, 50 cans to get a big cookie or a fro-yo, 75 cans to vote for a choice of lunches, and 100 cans to play dodge ball vs the teachers. The students that brought in money or can give them to their homeroom so it can be counted. Then the cans are put into big red bins that have been placed outside of the classrooms on each floor. This year’s slogan for the food drive is “One can, two can, who can, you can!” They are hoping to get 17,000 cans! If they reach this goal, then the students get either a hat day or Pajama day. It ends on November 22nd.Help people in need of food this year by donating!
